Shiradi Ghat condition - 22/03/2023

Dear travellers, If you have a drive / ride coming up for Mangalore or Dharmasthala and are exploring route options - here is the current road condition on the Shiradi ghats. While google maps doesn't show you this route by default and always suggests the one through Charmadi and Bisle, Shiradi ghat is actually doable barring one section which is bad but manageable. The stretch from Gundya check post till the Y junction that deviates to Dharmasthala is under construction and bad. But if you are driving a high ground clearance car it is not much of a problem and even if you are driving a sedan or a hatch without time constraints its easily doable. For motorcycles though it is not a problem at all ( just be aware of the dust due to the construction work). Of course there are some small pot hole ridden sections on the stretch connecting Hassan and Sakleshpur but again if driven slowly, its not a thing of concern. Shiradi ghat saves a lot of time as compared to Charmadi and Bisle due to the distance and the treacherous / narrow roads of the latter. I drove back to Bangalore via Shiradi ghat last night and didn't quite face any issue as such. So, if you all are skeptical and not sure about Shiradi, thats the information you've been looking for.
